Issues member Tribes face is traditional foods gathered in the forest and on the beaches near the villages are no longer available. The cause this change and, in some cases, decline of food sources is unknown but it is most likely a combination of over-harvest, predation, inconsistent recruitment, and environmental changes due to elevated sea water temperature, high energy storms and ocean acidification.
The ways in which foods are produced, distributed and consumed have direct implications for communities. The lack of traditional foods in the diets has several negative impacts.
